Nadia Jones (b.2002) is a queer T1D artist from the unceded territory of the Syilx/Okanagan people. They are reckoning with ideas surrounding permanence and impermanence in relation to living with a chronic illness. Through the use of poetry, assemblage, sculpture and print Jones’ work provides a perspective on overlapping identities and how intersectionality affects our view on the world. Currently studying at Emily Carr University of art and design, they are majoring in Visual arts specializing in sculpture and installation art. Jones uses a variety of mediums to express abstract concepts such as grief, autonomy and identity through the production of conceptual installation sculptures. In the past they have exhibited at the Penticton Tumbleweed Gallery, The RBC Media Gallery and currently have work for sale at the Pressure Point Gallery in Vancouver. Nadia hopes to bridge the gap between queerness and disability through work exploring the interconnected nature of identity.
